There are many users who cannot download an apk file on their Android devices due to a network issue or that the files are too big (though Google Play limits app sizes to 50 MB). It would have been really helpful if we could download the apk files on our computer and then transfer it to our devices. Although this is nearly impossible for iOS users, Android users have many ways to do it. The easiest way is thru a Chrome extension called APK Downloader 1.4.2. Although Google Drive lets you download any Google Doc or Google Viewer files with your shared users, it is not very obvious like the Dropbox’s download button. You often have to instruct users to go to the File menu and then click Download As to download the file. This is very frustrating when you email or IM the Google Drive file link. The most common response from a user with whom you have shared a download file link is an email from Google Drive asking you to change the sharing settings. It would have been useful if Google Drive included a “Download” button next to the “Comments” and “Share” button. Until then you would have to be content with this little force download URL hack. …

If you have tried to connect to a NodeJS socket IO server from Adobe Flash or Flex using Flash Socket,  you might have experienced connection error and seen a warning in the NodeJS server console saying ‘Unknown Transport : “flashsocket”’. This can be solved by enabling the ‘flashsocket’ transport method which  is disabled by default in the newer versions of SocketIO. That’s it. Happy coding.

Windows Hibernate is one of the truly useful feature that helps us get back to work after powering on a computer, as fast as possible. But one of the downside of hibernate is that it can take up some huge amount of space on your hard disk. By default this is 75% of the RAM that you have installed in your computer. So if you have 3Gb of RAM then you could be having a hiberfil.sys file that is around 2.2 Gb. The computer uses the hiberfil.sys file to store a copy of the system memory on the hard disk when the hybrid sleep setting is turned on.
